The crown jewel of our programming is our immersive summer camp experience. Moshava Malibu, the newest of the 5 North American Moshava camps, ran its inaugural session in 2013 in Malibu, California. Summer 2015 will be our first season on our new permanent home at the David Oved Retreat Center in Running Springs, CA, located in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains only two hours outside Los Angeles. Every summer, Rosh Moshava Rabbi Kenny Pollack, a native of Los Angeles (and Rosh Snif as a High School senior), assembles a world-class team of up-and-coming educators to form a top-rate camp staff. Our phenomenal team for 2015 includes Elana Marom, Sgan Rosh Mosh; Rabbi Aaron Bayer, our Rosh Beit Midrash; and our Rosh Machal, Yael Herzog.
Moshava Malibu offers 3 programs for campers ages 8-14. Kaytana is our 2-week introductory program for boys and girls entering 3rd and 4th grade who are not ready for our full season, but want the fun and excitement of being in camp. This program is specially geared for our younger ages, with an emphasis on their interests and with age-appropriate supervision and staff. Machane, our regular camp program, is for boys and girls entering 4th through 9th grade. This 4-week session includes the full range of camp activities, including sports, educational programming, color war, and all the ruach you would expect to find at a Moshava camp. Machal, which stands for Machane Chalutzi – Pioneer Camp – is the capstone program of any Moshava camp. Geared for boys and girls entering 10th grade, it involves a leadership training seminar with hiking, sleeping outdoors, trips, and bonding in the wilderness. Moshava Malibu is also proud to partner with Yachad to run an inclusion program for campers with special needs across all camper ages.
